LED Smart Streetlighting Project
After 4 years of advancing through the process, the Village was able to commence the NYPA LED Smart Streetlighting Project by closing on the purchase of the streetlighting assets from National Grid.  This means the Village now OWNS the streetlighting fixtures located within the Village limits. National Grid remains the owner of the utility pole. By purchasing the streetlighting assets outright, the Village will see a significant savings in five years after the new LED fixtures are paid off instead of minimal savings through the National Grid LED program.

This will change how you report streetlighting outages. All streetlighting outages will need to be reported to the Village Hall Office via email (barkervillage@roadrunner.com) or 716-795-3777.  Each pole with a streetlighting fixture will have a black placard, like in the photo below.  This placard will have 3-4 letters with a number, this is the pole identification number that you will need to report the outage.
